Our COVID-19 Grantmaking

Rose Community Foundation has committed the entirety of our remaining 2020 grantmaking to a multi-phased response to the impact of this crisis in our region.

  1. Prevention/Containment/Emergency Response – In early April, the Foundation awarded over 120 grants totaling $1.7 million to nonprofit organizations on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Read more about that grantmaking here. Additional grantmaking in this category may be deployed as the needs continue and resources are available.
  2. Impact Mitigation – The Foundation is currently accepting funding requests to support organizations that are working to mitigate or alleviate the impacts of COVID-19 on communities. Learn more here.
  3. Recovery – The economic disruption of COVID-19 precautions has taken a heavy toll on our Greater Denver nonprofit sector. The Foundation will join donors and peer funders in supporting the fiscal sustainability of nonprofits to ensure they can continue playing a vital role in the overall health and recovery of our region.

Our COVID-19 Community Response

We recognize that many of our grant recipients may need to reorient their funds in order to respond to the continuously changing circumstances.  The Foundation will be flexible regarding grant objectives, activities, reporting and timelines in situations where COVID-19 impacts your capabilities or priorities. Please reach out to your program officer if you have questions about your grant.

We are extending the deadline for our endowment fundholders to take their 2019 distribution. If you would like to take a distribution and have not yet done so, contact Gretchen Lenamond.

We have been awed by our donors’ generous response to the COVID-19 crisis. We continue to update this resources page with information about organizations working to respond to this crisis in our community. We also encourage you to reach out to our Philanthropic Services team directly if you are looking for guidance to support your philanthropy.

We have created a dedicated fund for individuals and organizations that would like to contribute to the grantmaking we are doing in response to the COVID-19 crisis. Learn more about the RESPOND Fund here.
