The seeds of Rose Community Foundation were planted in the late 1940s, when Jewish community leaders founded General Rose Memorial Hospital to create a space where Jewish doctors – and Denver’s first Black physician to receive hospital privileges – could practice medicine at a time when discrimination barred them elsewhere. The hospital’s sale in 1995 led to the creation of the Foundation, carrying forward a legacy of inclusion, innovation and community care. 

For three decades, the Foundation has worked to enhance the lives of people in Greater Denver through leadership and resources, traditions and values. Rose Community Foundation is unique in its ability to deploy resources during times of urgent need, as well as to convene thought leaders and advocate for policies that support our most vulnerable communities.  

Guided by our mission and values, our team is innovating to meet the current moment in Greater Denver, in economic opportunity, affordable housing, education, Jewish life, public health and other pressing areas in our community, using all the tools in our toolbox to help address regional challenges and seize opportunities.
