Judy Altenberg to Lead Rose Community Foundation’s Philanthropic Services Team

Judy Altenberg

Rose Community Foundation announced the promotion of Judy Altenberg to Vice President of Philanthropic Services, leading the Philanthropic Services team’s efforts to grow philanthropic resources for regional good in partnership with donors, donor-advised fundholders, nonprofit fundholders, giving circle members, and professional advisors.

Altenberg joined the staff of Rose Community Foundation in 2019, having been involved with the Foundation since 2007 as a grantmaking committee member and eventual Foundation trustee and Jewish Life committee chair. As a Foundation staff member for the past five years, she has overseen a period of significant growth. Her leadership has enhanced the Foundation’s ability to accept complex gifts, resulting in additional opportunities for charitable impact. Her extensive legal and institutional knowledge, along with her local and national fundraising experience, have been instrumental in significantly increasing the Foundation’s deployment of charitable dollars.

“Judy’s deep expertise, genuine warmth, dedication to community, and multigenerational Colorado roots and connectivity have been invaluable to Rose Community Foundation, where she has served as a committee member, board trustee and staff member for 17 years,” says President and CEO Lindy Eichenbaum Lent. “Her leadership of Rose Community Foundation’s Philanthropic Services team will help us continue to leverage our region’s diversity and generosity in advancing values-driven philanthropy and community impact.”

Altenberg succeeds Sarah Indyk in this role, as Indyk departs Rose Community Foundation to spend additional time with her family after 16 ½ years at the Foundation in a variety of critical roles, with the most recent four years at the helm of the Philanthropic Services department.

“Building off Rose Community Foundation’s nearly 30-year legacy, I am deeply honored for the opportunity to step into this incredible role,” says Altenberg. “I am excited to continue working alongside my dedicated colleagues and our generous partners to support values-driven philanthropy across the Greater Denver region.”

As Vice President of Philanthropic Services, Altenberg will lead the team responsible for the cultivation and stewardship of partner relationships and resources, including existing and prospective donor-advised and designated funds, nonprofit endowment and designated funds, giving circles, legacy donors and the Rose Community Legacy Circle, and professional advisors.

Altenberg is a past chair and lifetime board member of National Women’s Philanthropy of the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA), where she was a trustee and chaired the Nominating Committee. She is also an alumna of the United Jewish Communities’ National Young Leadership Cabinet and a 2010 graduate of the Wexner Heritage Program, an intensive two-year program of Jewish leadership and learning. Judy has been actively involved with various education-related organizations at both the state and local levels, including serving as a past board chair of the Cherry Creek Schools Foundation.
