Newcomers Fund
Supporting immigrants and refugees in Colorado.
Established in December 2022, the Newcomers Fund provides grants to nonprofits that are meeting the vital needs of new immigrants in our community. With funds raised and administered by Rose Community Foundation, the Newcomers Fund is led by a steering committee that includes representatives from the City and County of Denver, the State of Colorado, The Denver Foundation, Latino Community Foundation of Colorado, and Mile High United Way.
All dollars raised through the Newcomers Fund are deployed quickly and strategically to Colorado nonprofits providing essential services. The Fund has received more than 5,000 donations from individuals, foundations and businesses, and has raised and distributed nearly $5 million to 60 organizations throughout Colorado.
The Newcomers Fund will continue to respond to needs in the immigrant community amidst policy shifts at the federal level and threatening rhetoric targeting immigrants locally. For those individuals and families who have made their home here in Colorado, there are continued needs that our community can rally together to help address.

The Impact
The Newcomers Fund has expanded its reach to respond to needs in the immigrant and refugee communities amidst continued policy shifts at the federal level. Grantees of the Newcomers Fund are:
- Providing training, materials and outreach to help immigrants understand their rights in enforcement actions across the state.
- Expanding the infrastructure of a rapid-response hotline
- Supplying individuals in detention facilities and their families with information about their status, legal rights, visitation schedules and more.
- Providing legal support and guidance, including deportation defense services, DACA renewals, and support for asylum requests.

Grant Opportunities
The Newcomers Fund Steering Committee is currently prioritizing support for organizations that provide access to immigration legal services, know your rights trainings and family preparedness programming, narrative change on the topic of immigration, and continuity of supports for previously ORR-eligible refugee populations and other immigrant populations that have lost access to services.
To apply please create an account or log in to your Rose Community Foundation’s online grants portal and select the Newcomers Fund opportunity.
Grantees to Date
The Fund has supported nonprofits mainly in the Denver metro area, which serve a significant portion of new immigrants, and has also provided assistance to communities beyond Denver, spanning from Yampa Valley to Carbondale, and from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs. The work of those nonprofits has been important in meeting the needs of new arrivals and enabling them to settle elsewhere in the state.
