DENVER—Rose Community Foundation announced today that Judy Altenberg will be joining the Foundation staff as the Director of Gift Planning and Advisor Relations. Altenberg has been actively involved in the Foundation as a volunteer for 12 years, currently serving as a Foundation trustee, chair of the Foundation’s Jewish Life committee and a member of the Foundation’s education committee. Altenberg will be stepping down from the board and committee positions to officially begin her staff role on June 10, 2019. She replaces longtime Senior Gift Planning Officer Vicki Dansky who left the Foundation in February.
“Judy’s longstanding commitment to Rose Community Foundation has been extensive, and we could not have found a better person to fill this important role and build upon the incredible legacy that Vicki Dansky created,” said Lindy Eichenbaum Lent, president and CEO of Rose Community Foundation. “Judy’s deep community relationships, fundraising expertise, and leadership skills will be wonderful additions to our amazing Philanthropic Services team.”
Altenberg has held numerous high-level volunteer fundraising positions with Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) including as a trustee, current chair of the Lion of Judah 25th Anniversary Endowment Initiative and as the immediate past board chair of JFNA’s National Women’s Philanthropy. She is a past chair of both Major Gifts and Women’s Philanthropy at JEWISHColorado, a past president of the American Jewish Committee’s Colorado chapter, an alumna of JFNA’s National Young Leadership Cabinet, and a 2010 graduate of the Wexner Heritage Program. Additionally, she served as a commissioner on the Colorado Commission on Higher Education for six years and is a past board chair of the Cherry Creek Schools Foundation, where she has recently supported their fundraising efforts as a consultant.
“Judy is a proven philanthropic leader, both in terms of her significant fundraising experience and her involvement in cultivating and supporting donors in their charitable giving,” said Patrick Sablich, the Foundation’s vice president of philanthropic services. “In this role, she will steward longstanding donor relationships, expand the community of donors that the Foundation serves, and work to grow the assets that enable us to support nonprofits and the causes they advance.”
A graduate of Brown University and Georgetown University Law Center, Altenberg – a lawyer by training – has spent the better part of her career volunteering in the community. When Altenberg steps off the Board of Trustees, her fellow trustee Kathy Neustadt will take over as the chair of the Jewish Life committee.
“I am fortunate to have been associated with many nonprofit and philanthropic organizations in the community, and my relationship with Rose Community Foundation has always been one of the greatest privileges because of the impact it has on the lives of people in our community every day,” Altenberg said. “I am thrilled to be joining the staff there and helping the Foundation’s donors envision and achieve their philanthropic goals.”
