Tom Thorpe works at Colorado Academy where he teaches high school English and is Co-Director of the REDI Lab @ CA. Prior to his appointment at CA, he worked at both St. Anne’s Episcopal and Graland Country Day schools in Denver, where he served as Technology Coordinator and an eighth grade English teacher, team leader, Humanities Department Chair, respectively. He is a co-founder of the design thinking and strategy firm, Fleissig Design, whose mission is to help organizations find creative solutions through essential processes and systems. Prior to working in Denver, Thorpe taught English and History at New Canaan Country School in Connecticut. He holds a Double Major BA in Social/Cultural Anthropology and Religious Studies from Connecticut College, and a Masters of Arts in Teaching, with an emphasis on secondary school curriculum and instruction from Fairfield University.
He currently serves as a trustee for Stanley British Primary School Board, he serves on the Denver Museum of Nature and Science Science and Policy Advisory Committee, and is a member of the PEBC (Public Education Business Coalition) Internal Review Board. Thorpe previously served as a member of the Facing History and Ourselves Advisory Board. He has been a presenter at local, national, and international conferences on innovation in education, design thinking, race and privilege, technology and global studies.
