Mary Katherine Kerr joined Rose Community Foundation in January 2023. In her role as the Philanthropic Services Coordinator, she leads Donor Learning and Event planning, runs the Matching Gift program for staff, board, and committee, and supports donor prospecting and stewardship for the Philanthropic Services team. She also assists the team with administrative needs including gift tracking and acknowledgement, database management, and scheduling.
Mary Katherine’s passion for helping others started in childhood while volunteering with her mother with hospitalized individuals, hospice patients and at-risk youth in her hometown of Sarasota, FL. After starting her career as a board-certified music therapist, she worked with children in hospice, geriatric patients in the memory unit and students enrolled at Beyond the Spectrum, a school for children with autism spectrum disorder and related diagnoses. Shortly after, she began working at Beyond the Spectrum full-time where she was involved in grassroots fundraising efforts including planning and coordinating their inaugural charity golf tournament, working with No Margin No Mission to launch an ABA Therapy Clinic and the recurring annual Giving Challenge with the Patterson Foundation. After moving to the Denver Metro area, Mary worked in human resources as a recruiter before returning to the non-profit sector with Rose Community Foundation.
Mary Katherine holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy from the University of Miami, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin and Nonprofit Administration Graduate Certificate from Colorado State University. In her spare time, she enjoys playing board games and video games with friends, playing and writing music, and reading.
