Challah Make, Take, Bake
Thursday, February 28, 2019
6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Staenberg- Loup JCC, Perlmutter Room
350 S. Dahlia Street, Denver, CO 80246
Since ancient times, Jewish people have viewed bread as a source of spiritual and nutritional nourishment. Challah’s ingredients, recipe instructions and braiding practices reflect the histories, families, culture and ritual of the Jewish people.
Roots & Branches alumni and partners are invited to join the Roots & Branches Alumni Council for an evening of making challah. Just in time for Shabbat, each participant will go home with a loaf of challah to bake. During the evening participants will assemble a challah recipe and receive braiding instructions. Dinner and drinks will be served.
While this event is free, participants are encouraged to make a $10 donation that will go directly toward the Roots & Branches Annual Night of Giving grantmaking that will take place in the spring of 2019.
For the second year, Roots & Branches Foundation is offering funds for Roots & Branches alumni to further their philanthropic and Jewish leadership in our community. Alumni of Roots & Branches Foundation are invited to apply for a mini-grant of up to $500 to create a meaningful Jewish and/or philanthropic experience for the Roots & Branches community, friends, and family. We encourage alumni to use this opportunity to think creatively. We hope mini-grant supported events will be used to grow and strengthen our community, and that Roots & Branches alumni feel empowered to develop the skills and connections they used during Roots & Branches Foundation. $6,000 will awarded in 2018 on a first come, first serve basis.

Board and Committee Connections
Throughout the Roots & Branches core program, participants learn the ins and outs of nonprofit operations, strategic philanthropy, community engagement and Jewish values. Continue to serve your community after the core program by serving on a nonprofit board or committee.
Alumni, if you would like to be connected to board or committee opportunities, please email Emily Kornhauser at email@example.com with your bio, resume and interests.
If you work for a nonprofit organization that seeks talented, younger candidates for possible board or committee service, please reach out to Emily Kornhauser at firstname.lastname@example.org with the skills and characteristics you are looking for, as well as your organization’s mission and a brief description of the board or committee position(s) you seek to fill.
Continue your collaborative, Jewish giving journey by launching your own giving circle.
In partnership with Amplifier Giving, we offer training and support to Roots & Branches alumni to lead their own giving circles. Our support includes a framework for meetings, facilitation training, tools to help you lead conversations about Jewish giving and philanthropy, ongoing coaching, targeted matching grants and the option to create a Giving Circle Fund at Rose Community Foundation to house your grantmaking dollars.
