Roots & Branches Foundation Seeks Jewish Grantmaking Team

Denver, CO - Rose Community Foundation is seeking Jewish volunteers in their 20s and 30s to make grants. The selected individuals will be part of Roots & Branches Foundation, an initiative providing the opportunity for up to 18 people to learn about strategic philanthropy, Jewish philanthropic traditions and award grants up to $100,000. Applications will be accepted through Wednesday, June 11 at noon.

Now in its second year, Roots & Branches Foundation will meet every three weeks on Monday evening between July 2008 and January 2009. Rose Community Foundation staff will facilitate the group’s exploration of strategic philanthropy, identification of community needs, reviews of grant proposals and visits to prospective grantees. The 18 members will make all the decisions for the Roots & Branches Foundation.

“I got involved with Roots and Branches to become more engaged in our Jewish community,” says Lisa Dale, former Roots & Branches Foundation member. “I wanted to have a positive impact and do more than I could accomplish personally. I had a great experience, learning a ton about Jewish life in Denver. The whole experience will have a lasting impact on me.”

Rose Community Foundation is committed to creating an inclusive, diverse group of individuals: those who are involved in Jewish life and those who are not, secular and religious, and those from different geographic areas and life circumstances.
Jews between 25 and 40 interested in being part of Roots & Branches Foundation can apply online at rcfdenver.org/initiatives_roots.htm or by calling Shawna Friedman at 303.398.7452.
