September 22, 2008 Denver, CO - Anna Berman and Eliana Goldberg are the winners of Rose Community Foundation’s 2008 Rosh Hashanah Greeting Card Contest. This is the eleventh year of the contest, which invites students to create the artwork and text of a card that Rose Community Foundation sends in celebration of the Jewish New Year.
September 3, 2008 Denver, CO - Rose Community Foundation is seeking Jewish teens in grades 9 through 12 to help grant $50,000 to organizations serving the Denver metro Jewish community, including Boulder. The selected teens will be part of Rose Youth Foundation, an initiative providing Jewish youth with the opportunity to be grantmakers and to learn about philanthropy and the Jewish community. Applications will be accepted through October 7, 2008.
August 18, 2008 Denver, CO - Rose Community Foundation President and CEO Sheila Bugdanowitz has announced the appointment of Whitney G. Connor as program officer for the Foundation’s Health program area, and Anita Wesley as philanthropy advisor.
August 15, 2008 Denver, CO - During the second quarter of 2008, Rose Community Foundation awarded 103 grants totaling more than $2.3 million. Of this amount, $2,156,354 was awarded for 49 grants from Rose Community Foundation’s program areas to nonprofit organizations, government agencies and projects that support the health and well-being of the Greater Denver community. In addition, 54 grants totaling $151,960 were approved from donor-advised funds housed at the Foundation. Rose Community Foundation has awarded grants totaling more than $135 million since its inception in 1995.

July 18, 2008 Denver, CO - Intermarriage and a lack of participation in institutional Jewish life among young Jewish adults are trends revealed in a new study. How to engage Jews in their 20s and 30s is a burning question for Jewish organizations and synagogues across the country. Rose Community Foundation in Denver, Colorado released a report this week that addresses these trends and proposes solutions. Titled Legwork, Framework, Artwork: Engaging the Next Generation of Jews, the research is based on interviews with 250 Denver/Boulder Jews in their 20s and 30s, a demographic that the report identifies as “NextGens.”
June 3, 2008 Denver, CO - Rose Community Foundation provided funding for the recent publication titled Health Care and Business: The Bottom Line, produced by the Colorado Business Group on Health. This publication quantifies the impact of rising health care costs on Colorado businesses. The findings show that the average health insurance costs per employee rose 62% between 1999 and 2005. As costs rise, the percentage of insured workers declines and the cost of covering the uninsured affects the cost of coverage for those who are insured. Businesses are encouraged to join efforts to seek affordable health solutions.

Rose Community Foundation has awarded grants totaling nearly $135 million since its inception in 1995.
May 21, 2008 Denver, CO - Rose Youth Foundation, a grantmaking initiative of Rose Community Foundation, has awarded $50,000 in grants to eight projects in five priority areas. The grants were awarded at a celebration on May 18 for members of Rose Youth Foundation, their families and grant recipients. Since its inception in 2001, Rose Youth Foundation has granted $290,000 to Jewish and other organizations serving the seven-county Denver/Boulder community.
May 19, 2008 Denver, CO - Rose Community Foundation is seeking Jewish volunteers in their 20s and 30s to make grants. The selected individuals will be part of Roots & Branches Foundation, an initiative providing the opportunity for up to 18 people to learn about strategic philanthropy, Jewish philanthropic traditions and award grants up to $100,000. Applications will be accepted through Wednesday, June 11 at noon.
April 21, 2008 Denver, CO - Cheryl McDonald has been promoted to grants manager at Rose Community Foundation. In this capacity, she oversees the administrative and technical functions of the Foundation’s $12 million annual grantmaking program. Prior to her promotion, McDonald worked at the Foundation as a program assistant since 2004.
April 14, 2008 Denver, CO - Over the past two years, 27 metro-area Jewish organizations have secured an estimated $36 million in pledged bequests from 433 donors through a campaign supported by Rose Community Foundation. The initiative, Live On: Build Your Jewish Legacy, was designed to help the participating organizations build permanent endowments through bequests and estate gifts. Participating organizations included schools, synagogues and nonprofit organizations addressing a broad spectrum of community needs.
April 2, 2008 Denver, CO - Rose Community Foundation’s board of trustees has announced the appointment of two new members to the Foundation’s Jewish Life Committee – Michelle Osterman and Phil Weiser. The Committee’s members provide guidance and expertise to support the Foundation’s mission, programs and policies. Through its Jewish Life program area, the Foundation supports the Greater Denver Jewish community through outreach to unconnected Jews, experiences that promote Jewish growth, organizational development and leadership development.
March 17, 2008 Denver, CO - Rose Community Foundation has been named a Silver Award winner for excellence in communications by the 2008 Wilmer Shields Rich Awards Program. Sponsored by the Council on Foundations, the awards program recognizes effective communications efforts to increase public awareness of foundations and corporate giving programs.
