How would you use $100,000 and your Jewish values to make the Denver/Boulder community a better place?

Roots & Branches Foundation is a unique opportunity for Jews ages 25 to 40 to get personally involved in shaping their Jewish and wider community. Since 2007, 18 individuals have been selected each year to serve as members of Roots & Branches. The members work together to determine how to solve problems they identify in the community through grants that are primarily Jewish in nature. Participants have the chance to work collaboratively with a diverse group of their peers, develop their communication and decision-making skills and support local non-profits through grantmaking.

Each Roots & Branches group is diverse. Participants’ Jewish backgrounds range from secular to Orthodox. Some are native Coloradans and others are newcomers to the area. Their occupations vary from meteorologist to teacher, stay-at-home-parent to lawyer, and yoga instructor to psychiatrist. They are foodies, activists and musicians. These individuals come together as a group with a shared goal: they want to make a difference and they want to do it Jewishly.

Since its inception in 2007, Roots & Branches Foundation has granted $319,686 to Jewish and other organizations serving the seven-county Denver/Boulder community. Click here to view the group’s most recent grants.

"Not only did Roots & Branches connect me with other Jews my age, but it sparked a passion to become a committed and active member in the community. Because of programs like Roots & Branches the community is more aware of the many Jewish 20- and 30-somethings dedicated to making a positive change."
– Melissa Combs, Roots & Branches Member 2007-2008

“If Jewish identity is the question, community seems to be the answer.”
– Dan Spiegler, Roots & Branches Member 2007-2008
