The Foundation’s board of trustees authorized the following grants between January 1, 2015 and June 30, 2015. Program grants are listed by program area and donor-directed grants are listed alphabetically. Locations indicate the organization’s headquarters, not necessarily the geographic area served.

PROGRAM AREA GRANTS

Aging

Brothers Redevelopment, Inc. (Denver): $80,000 over two years for the Home Maintenance and Repair Program, which provides affordable home repairs and modifications for low-income older adult homeowners.

Continuing Legal Education in Colorado, Inc. (Denver): $8,000 to print an updated Senior Law Handbook to be distributed at Colorado’s 16th Annual Senior Law Day.

Easter Seals Colorado (Lakewood): $40,000 over two years to support the Rehabilitation Services and Stroke Recovery Day Program which assists stroke survivors to regain skills and improve their health and quality of life.

Grantmakers in Aging (Arlington, VA): $3,500 to support the activities of this national association that focuses on aging issues.

Jewish Family Service of Colorado (Denver): $130,000 for a menu of in-home services which help older adults remain in their homes and maintain their independence.

Rebuilding Together Metro Denver (Lakewood): $25,000 to support the rehabilitation and repair of homes for older adults and people with disabilities so they may remain independent.

Rose Community Foundation (Denver): $7,000 to work in partnership with Denver Regional Council of Government’s Area Agency on Aging to conduct a focus group of Latino elders as part of the 2014/2015 Community Assessment Survey of Older Adults.

Via Mobility Services (Boulder): $260,000 over two years for group transportation services and mobility programs so older adults may remain independent in their own communities.

Child and Family Development

9to5 Colorado (Denver): $20,000 over two years for leadership development and civic engagement of low-income women and their families.

Center for Work Education and Employment (Denver): $20,000 to assist low-income parents in obtaining  and retaining employment.

Child Learning Center, University of Colorado at Boulder (Boulder): $30,000 over two years to provide assessment services, early childhood programs for children with and without disabilities, parent education and support, and community and state outreach support.

Colorado Center on Law and Policy (Denver): $64,000 for the Family Economic Security Program, which provides research, education, advocacy and litigation on behalf of low-income Coloradans.

Emily Griffith Foundation (Denver): $60,000 over two years to provide financial support and resources to parents attending Emily Griffith.

Engaged Public (Denver): Two grants totaling $3,900 for facilitation of the 2015 Child & Family Development Retreat.

Family Star (Denver): $20,000 to support strategic planning and staff development training in order to maintain high-quality early childhood education services.

Grantmakers for Children, Youth and Families (Silver Spring, MD): $2,500 to support the activities of this national association of grantmakers seeking to improve the well-being of children, youth and families.

Hope Center (Denver): $20,000 to provide professional development, parenting classes and materials to this organization that provides early childhood education to low-income children in Northeast Denver.

Mapleton Public Schools (Denver): $103,950 over two years for the expansion of the current School Readiness Quality Improvements Project in Adams County.

Rocky Mountain MicroFinance Institute (Denver): $10,000 to provide access to microloans and business planning for community entrepreneurs who seek self-sufficiency through business ownership.

Rose Community Foundation (Denver): $4,000 to update the Early Childhood Colorado Framework which provides a comprehensive and measurable plan for early childhood education that focuses on the whole child and family.

Warren Village (Denver): $40,000 for comprehensive services for low-income, single-parent families working to move beyond the cycle of poverty and homelessness.

WorkLife Partnership (Denver): $25,000 to support employers’ ability to retain valuable employees by leveraging community resources. Colorado Nonprofit Development Center serves as the fiscal sponsor.

YWCA of Boulder County (Boulder): $25,000 to support Children’s Alley, a drop-in and emergency child care center, and the Families in Transition program.

Education

Adams County Youth Initiative (Thornton): $20,000 for implementing stronger continuous improvement practices for the organization’s action teams.

America SCORES Denver (Denver): $8,000 over two years to support a program that integrates poetry and soccer into after-school programming.

Bennie E. Goodwin After School Academic Program (Aurora): $5,000 for an after-school program helping low income students in need of academic assistance.

City Year Denver (Denver): $10,000 over two years for a program offering attendance coaching, behavior mentoring and academic tutoring for students in jeopardy of dropping out of school.

Colorado “I Have A Dream”® Foundation (Denver): $20,000 over two years to support college and career readiness for middle and high school students.

Colorado Association of Black Professional Engineers and Scientists (Denver): $5,000 over two years to provide Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) tutoring for African-American and other undeserved youth.

Colorado BioScience Institute (Denver): $10,000 for an intensive professional development program providing Denver educators with bioscience laboratory experience.

Colorado UpLift (Denver): $10,000 over two years to support a teacher/mentoring program providing after-school, adventure and post-secondary support to youth who need caring and adult support to succeed in life.

Denver Kids, Inc. (Denver): $24,000 over two years for one-on-one social/emotional support and academic guidance to students in Denver Public Schools.

Girls Incorporated of Metro Denver (Denver): $8,000 over two years for academic enrichment programs for girls.

Grantmakers for Education (Portland, OR): $3,000 to support the activities of this national association dedicated to improving educational outcomes and increasing opportunities for all learners.

“I Have a Dream” ® Foundation of Boulder County (Boulder): $20,000 over two years for out-of-school-time programs to support high school graduation and college attainment.

Mi Casa Resource Center (Denver): $20,000 over two years for after-school programs at Lake Middle School and Denver North High School’s Beacon Neighborhood Centers.

Minds Matter of Denver (Denver): $5,000 over two years for a program that helps underprivileged high school students gain acceptance to top-tier summer college programs and four-year universities.

OpenWorld Learning (Denver): $30,000 over two years to support after-school technology education programs.

RAFT Colorado (Denver): $25,000 to support access to afforadable resources and embed professional development into the Teacher Partners program in Aurora Public Schools.

Reading Partners (Denver): $15,000 over two years to provide one-on-one reading instruction to elementary school students reading below grade level to help them succeed in school and in life.

Regis University (Denver): $10,000 over two years to support the Porter-Billups Leadership Academy for high school students.

Rose Community Foundation (Denver): $350 to co-host a retirement party in recognition of Colorado Commissioner of Education Robert Hammond’s leadership.

Save Our Youth (Denver): $10,000 over two years for summer academic programs that improve education outcomes of at-risk youth.

Scholars Unlimited (Denver): $10,000 over two years to provide rigorous literacy instruction and enrichment programs that help students achieve measurable success.

The Bridge Project, University of Denver (Denver): $30,000 over two years for this after-school program located in low-income housing communities.

YESS Institute (Denver): $10,000 over two years for a program offering youth training and peer mentoring in three Metro Denver high schools.

Health

10.10.10 (Denver): $2,000 to co-host an event to encourage new ideas in healthcare in Denver.

Boulder County Public Health Department (Boulder): $50,000 for a teen pregnancy prevention program for the younger siblings of pregnant and parenting teenagers in Boulder County.

Colorado Coalition for the Medically Underserved (Denver): $18,000 to support the All Kids Covered Coalition’s Healthy Development Initiative.

Colorado Community Health Network (Denver): $100,000 over two years for general operating support of a program devoted to ensuring that eligible children and adults are enrolled in Medicaid, CHP+ and subsidized private healthcare.

Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (Denver): $74,500 to coordinate a State Innovation Model (SIM) which will include multi-payer activities like meeting strategy, facilitation and coordination.

Jewish Life

Anti-Defamation League, Mountain States Region (Denver): $62,303 for Words to Action, a program to empower Jewish high school students and their allies with tools to combat anti-Semitism and anti-Israel bias.

Beth Jacob High School (Denver): $87,500 to upgrade technology and technology education.

Rose Community Foundation (Denver): $252,700 over two years to support Roots and Branches Foundation, a teen grantmaking program.

Jewish Federations of North America (New York, NY): $2,000 to support leadership activities.

Jewish Funders Network (New York, NY): $2,500 to support the activities of this national association that promotes thoughtful philanthropy among Jewish funders.

Judaism Your Way (Denver): $250 for a Pride Shabbat dinner in 2015.

Kabbalah Experience (Denver): $70,000 to support marketing and communications to increase the number of adult learners at this Jewish spiritual center.

Menorah: Arts, Culture and Education at the Boulder JCC (Boulder): $20,000 over two years to support the 2015 and 2016 Boulder Jewish Festival.

Moishe House (Encinitas, CA): $50,000 to launch a new Moishe House in Boulder and to support programming at Moishe House Denver, providing young 20-something Jews with Jewish programs in a residential setting.

Rocky Mountain Jewish Historical Society and Beck Archives (Denver): $23,000 over two years for a traveling exhibit about the history of America’s Jewish community and programs at three synagogues and the Boulder JCC.
