Alex Talavera is the development associate at Rose Community Foundation. He assists the philanthropic services department in their development activities, providing database and portfolio management support.
Mr. Talavera comes to the Foundation from Chicago, where he worked as associate director of development for the Geneva Foundation of Presbyterian Homes, a nonprofit organization specializing in low-income elder assistance. His duties there included database administration, statistical analysis and fundraising strategy development. Prior to this, he worked as a freelance grant writer in his native home of Tucson, Arizona.
Mr. Talavera attended the University of Arizona and received his B.A. in sociology with a minor in creative writing. His philanthropic interests include aging, education access and homelessness. In his free time, he enjoys writing fiction, playing board games and after his five-year stint in the big city, finally getting back to the mountains.
