Denver, CO—During the third quarter of 2015, Rose Community Foundation awarded 157 grants totaling more than $2.4 million. Of this amount, $1,799,853 was awarded for 34 grants from Rose Community Foundation’s program areas to nonprofit organizations, government agencies and projects that support the health and well-being of the Greater Denver community. Donor-advised funds housed at the Foundation approved 123 grants totaling $634,825. Rose Community Foundation has awarded grants totaling more than $234 million since its inception in 1995.
The Foundation’s board of trustees authorized the following grants between July 1, 2015 and September 30, 2015:

PROGRAM AREA GRANTS
Jewish Life
Colorado Agency for Jewish Education (Denver): $93,128 over three years to enhance the quality of teaching and learning in 11 Jewish early childhood education centers through intensive teacher and director coaching and training.
Jewish Family Service of Colorado (Denver): $45,000 towards a grant for $90,000 for a new client database and management system, including data conversion, training and software. This grant was jointly funded by the Foundation’s Health and Jewish Life program areas.
Kevah (Berkeley, CA): $120,000 to support this new organization which empowers individuals and organizations to build customized Jewish learning communities in the Denver and Boulder areas.
One Table (New York, NY): $5,000 for a feasibility study and site visit to determine how this organization could expand to Denver and Boulder areas.
Aging
Center for People with Disabilities (Denver): $7,500 to support the Beyond Vision Program, which assists older adults who are visually impaired or blind to remain independent.
The Denver Center for Crime Victims (Denver): $10,000 to provide crisis intervention, case management and preventive home safety assessments for older adults.
Colorado Gerontological Society (Denver): $15,000 for Medicare and Medicaid enrollment activities.
Hunger Free Colorado (Denver): $15,000 to support low-income and impoverished older adults in the Denver area who lack consistent access to adequate food.
Rose Community Foundation (Denver): $330,000 for the Colorado Latino Age Wave Initiative to develop a service model that uses a whole-family approach to care for elders.
Child and Family Development
Ability Connection Colorado (Denver): $10,000 for the professional development of early childhood educators.
Bright By Three (Denver): $30,000 to support a text message program which sends parenting tips to caregivers with children five years old or younger.
Clayton Early Learning (Denver): $150,000 over two years for an evalutation which will provide those in the early childhood education field with information to increase advocacy for and access to high-quality early childhood programs.
Colorado Parent & Child Foundation (Denver): $25,000 to support the implementation of the organization’s strategic plan and programs that encourage parent involvement in their children’s education.
Denver Children’s Advocacy Center (Denver): $10,000 for on-site mental health services for children in a Head Start program.
Early Milestones Colorado (Denver): $75,000 over 14 months to support a community resource for work benefitting young children and their families.
Executives Partnering to Invest In Children (Denver): $10,000 for the public awareness campaign for the Colorado Childcare Contribution Tax Credit (CCTC).
Florence Crittenton Services of Colorado (Denver): $40,000 to support a program that helps teen parents raise healthy families.
Mi Casa Resource Center (Denver): $30,000 for programs that advance the economic success of Latino families.
Mary Wickersham Consulting, Inc. (Longmont): $4,200 for consulting services to assist early childhood funders in the development of Pay for Success’ mapping and planning process.
Qualistar Colorado (Denver): $50,000 to support a rating system that measures and improves the quality of early learning settings and helps parents find and choose high- quality care.
Rose Community Foundation (Denver): $2,500 for hosting Early Childhood and School Readiness Legislative Commission meetings for one year.
Sewall Child Development Center (Denver): $10,000 to support a staff education and training program which will deliver educational and therapeutic early intervention programs to children, birth through age five, and their families.
Stride (Lakewood): $15,000 for a program that helps families become self-sufficient through individualized case management services.
Tools of the Mind (Denver): $25,000 to support the creation of social-emotional and self-regulation benchmarks to improve teacher skills and effectiveness and ultimately improve children’s social functioning and academic performance. Third Sector New England serves as the fiscal sponsor.
TLC Learning Center (Longmont): $18,500 for staff training in a positive behavior development model.
Work Options for Women (Denver): $20,000 to support a program that helps impoverished women gain the skills and confidence they need to work their way out of poverty and become gainfully and permanently employed in the food service industry.
Education
Colorado Succeeds (Denver): $60,000 for a program that educates low-income and Latino families on school choice and improvement.
Denver Public Schools Foundation (Denver): $95,000 to replicate the successful practices of the first Denver Public Schools Innovation Management Organization.
Rose Foundation (Denver): $20,000 for the evaluation and case study of the first Denver Public Schools Innovation Management Organization.
Health
Colorado Health Institute (Denver): $20,000 to help the organization assess the viability of hosting an annual, rather than biennial, conference.
Grantmakers in Health (Washington, DC): $4,025 to support the activities of this national association of grantmakers dedicated to improving the nation’s health.
Jewish Family Service of Colorado (Denver): $45,000 towards a grant totaling $90,000 for a new client database and management system, including data conversion, training and software. This grant was jointly funded by the Foundation’s Health and Jewish Life program areas.
The Keystone Center (Keystone, CO): $15,000 to support the Colorado Commission on Affordable Health Care in analyzing health care costs and making policy recommendations to the legislature and the governor to lower health care costs.
